With the support i met from all of you, the last 2 days, with PMs and public post, i have the faith that this will not stop working. In any case this is a fight that i will give with all of you that want to participate.
I didn't give up on July with no processor, no give up after posonline got paused, neither during december problems with downtime.
I will try the best to keep it live
For those that will get cheated by other hosts and will come back BUT more for those who never gave up and stayed with FileMates.
Although it is not a promise, i will try to keep it running.

You should take care of the mass piracy situations on your servers that were reported to you last week. Knowingly keeping such accounts open when they have been reported (and you know for a fact the content that was reported is 100% illegal) just confirms your agreement to participate in hosting such content.

SOOO....the situation is like this...i will be fair and say i started searching for a new host to continue my activity if anything happens...conclusion....YOU DONT CLOSE YOUR BUSINESS FILEMATES....everywhere you find crappy payment processors or payout options....almost 90% of other owners dont respond you to one simple question through email...and in this business there must be a full cooperation between affiliates and owner.... i mostly found websites with no support threads and no one to answer a few questions i had through email, with no reviews to see if they pay or if they are scam....CRAPPY HOSTS EVERYWHERE...so....i strongly recommend you try to resist more even though the visitors wont come back to full in this 2 weeks....try to somehow modify the policy to atract more uploaders (i say it like that because i have no knowledge in this but i see others here have and can help you) and crawl to the top because it will be pretty easy once you start....but please please....DONT GIVE UP....this is toooooooooooo good
Anyone knows how you can upload a FM file directly to your own server (so something like remote upload without another filehost) I know with a 'filehosting script' it should be no problem, but hope to find an easier solution :-)
Just checked it out, with all the troubles of last year, I had already 4 hosts during the last 13 months, so if we need to move, I'm considering to do the hosting by myself. For less as 100 $/month you already have a server which suits my needs, so in fact, no reason not do it except that I have absolutely no experience with it

XFS is a really cool script Kinepolis. Try this when you decide to do your host. It needs too many modifications as it is very basic but compared to others is really good script.
Of course for payment processing implementation you will need programming knowledge but you can hire someone if you don't know.
But, i will tell you the problem. Sales depend on overall links spreaded. I mean. If a client sees a link on ul.to and the same file on filemates he will prefer ul.to as with ul.to is known more than filemates as more links exist on the web.
This is the actual problem of filemates with sales. less affiliates means less links spreaded and less interest by clients. So creating your host will be a solution but it will give you less money than using a file host massively used (i do not say filemates... i say whichever file host)...
This is what i try to solve now. Increase affiliates. Uploads and spread!!!
In any case, if filemates finally closes, i suggest you to use another file host, if you find any reliable according to your opinion, before you build your own

I heard they lost their payment processor because of refusal to remove mass piracy on their servers. This was reported to them and they ignored it. The accounts are still active, they are still earning money off of pirated content. Always a bad business decision to continue to support piracy that has been reported.
Filemates, do you own or know of any company that would upload movies, ps3 games, xbox360 games, music, pornography and other such copyright content to your servers? All of course not owned whatsoever by the uploaders. You need to address these things when reports are made if you wish to continue to be a successful file hosting site otherwise I'm pretty sure no payment processor will support your service when they receive constant reports of piracy about your service.

Stooky i assure you your information are wrong. The reported files received get massively deleted in just few hours.

At least fight more... Even if i don't earn anything, i will try it. As soon as it covers the expenses we will keep it running. Together! I hope this is not a bad decision for me. But risk is always sweet. Right?

Mate I appreciate that you will continue, but pls remove the latest news from your site or at least update it!

Personally me likes that people needs to register, it's a nice feature if you run a own site or blog and it makes ppl come back and buy premium sooner or later. Mabe you can make an option that ppl can checkmark if a file needs to register like its already possible to premium a file.

Then you can get alot more files on the web since biggest foruns dont allow your host due to not beeing free.

However, I have absolutely no intention to start a filehost - I already figured out it is not as easy as it looks, was just thinking to avoid one by simply putting my own files on a server. Normally, you just upload a file by ftp from your PC to your server, but as the files are already on FM, I was wondering if it would be possible to do some kind of remote upload from FM to mysite.com
Anyway, it seems not longer necessary as you made the wise decision to continue (y)

Max download file size 1024 | 5120 | 5120 - This means that free users can download files up to 1GB and registered or premium can download any file size. So with a simple registration everyone can have any file.
Storage space 0 | 0.5TB | 1TB - You know this limitation is just to protect the system from fraud uploaders who generate uploads just to overload the servers. Whenever you asked more space a gave it. So do not worry abou it.
Downloads countdown 120 | 90 | 0 - Before the download button appears for free users will pass 120 seconds, 90 for registered and immediate for premium
Max file downloads unlimited - Users can download any file they want
Next download delay 24 | 12 | 0 - The seconds per 100MB downloaded file size that the user must wait before he downloads more files. If for example a guest download 500MB then he must wait 120seconds (2 minutes) before he downloads another file.
Max bandwidth last day - 3 | 6 | 40 - The GB a user can download per day
Download speed - 30 | 50 | direct download from file server - The speed in KB per second of a download. Premium users get Direct Links and download speed depends on the server speed and house speed at that moment. It is the maximum possible as there is no limitation.

File Size Download Limitation.
For Guest Users/Registered Users it's currently at 400mb.
My suggestion (and I want you to seriously consider this!) is to create a "setting" on the site for us (the affiliates) to limit the file size for Free Users - Guest and Registered.
The Guest User/Registered User File Size Limit setting should/could range from 300mb to 1024mb. I would not let the Guest User/Registered User File Size Download Limit be greater than 1024mb.
Let us - the affiliates determine what sizes to set - for we know our particular users and how we can generate sales.

I agree with this one aswell, make registered download whatever they want. they will still have to buy premium to download more than 5gb a day so

I plan to reorganize all the pricing structure and affiliate program.
What do you think about:
3 pricing plans. Clear pricing with no .99
- 30 days 10€
- 60 days 18€ (-10%)
- 90 days 24€ (-20%)
PPS - from 60% that is today dicrease to 55%
The final earning per sale increases. Now you earn 8.99€*60%=5.394€
With 55% but 10€ price you will earn 5.5€
This price increase with 5% PPS dicrease will premit me have a bit of margin to cover the costs. Believe me the costs are big!
In any case you will increase your final per sale earning. Also 10€ is a clear price and clients will not get disturbed by that increase too much...
