FileServe sucks (no offense, it just does). The speed is slow while downloading to canada VPS on 1gbps link. The upload speed is great though! I wish they could make the download speed high too... I tend to avoid FileServe the best i can. I prefer RapidShare the most as i get awesome speeds from RapidShare and they dont ban server IPs (like Hotfile).

Also, i see FileServe is targeting the uploaders, not the downloaders... You will have to target for both if you want to run a filehost. Give fast speeds (and cheaper plans) and you'll get premium downloaders aswell. Remember that Downloaders > Uploaders. Also Uploaders are reliant on Downloaders, while downloaders have a choice of filehosts ;)
 
^You can't really say it sux cuz "you" get slow speed from a specific country, I get up to 70mb/s down and up to 120mb/s up on 100tb.com dedi.
 
Ok mate. That's your opinion.

Here's the thing..

We are not Rapidshare.
Your download speed must lack or just plain generally suck. I've seen a 1gbit line (not dedicated) in Washington DC do 12 MB/sec from Rapidleech. Don't know how that speed can suck. Honestly.

And..Downloaders go where uploaders go. Fact. It's not the other way around as long as downloads are working and giving off appropriate speed. The latter would matter, but somehow we face increasing popularity with sh!t speed? (//sarcasm)
 
Stop trolling somik.
FS is great for downloaders - both free and premium users.

I could host stuff on RS if I wanted to pay for my storage - which I wont.
I could download a few GBs a day compared to what I can DL from FS.

And while it is on topic (other filehosts)
I downloaded a 900MB file @ 100KBs from Oron yesterday.
Next file was 500MB and I had to wait 13 hours to grab it.

Waited 10 hours to check how long time was left.
11 Hours!

All hosts has ups and downs.
FS is one of the greatest - end of story.
 
I only get like 1~2 MB/s while downloading (drops more during high load) however i am getting 7~9 MB/s from Rapidshare and 12~15 MB/s from MegaUpload.

Is there something i missed? Any hidden configuration that i need to get higher speeds?

I dont understand why i am getting such slow speeds while you are getting such high speed... I'll be happy with even 8 MB/s....

If FS is so great, then why do people still upload to other hosts? ;)

As for Oron, that is crap. The top ones are Hotfile, MegaUpload, FileServe and ex Rapidshare (ex cause its gonna die anytime).

I believe FileServe is the only host that replies to a forum....
 
That's probably why you're getting such lame speed, I'm using a Remote desktop and downloading with internet download manager, huge difference, specially on a 1GB line.

Because changes takes time.

BTW:
You might get lower speeds than others because you live in NL?
RS is located in your backyard and FS is in the US.
Not comparable then.

Try using more threads.

Somik: What are you using for downloading on VPS? RL, wget?

If I try to download something via wget or RL I get max 3MB/s from Washington DC.
Proof here:

With 'axel' (multithreaded downloading tool) I got that:
Downloaded 50.0 megabytes in 5 seconds. (10073.91 KB/s)

I always get that speed and that's just enough for me. Upload is fast as hell, I'm able to push up to 100MB/s.

warning.
You didnt even sent me a mail that my account is disabled or why is that.
