Would You Launch a Real Project on .api, .cart or .anime?

ICANN received 1,600+ primary applications in the 2026 round. Some early disclosed strings target tech, commerce and online communities, but none of them is approved for public registration yet.

For a webmaster, the real decision is practical: brand fit, renewal cost, user trust and whether the domain works for a live project.

If the exact .com was gone, which type of new TLD would you actually deploy a real site on?

I wouldn't use .anime, but .cart would be a possibility for a marketplace, and .api for an API endpoint combined to a primary domain (technical though).

One aspect that would make the difference for adoption is, imo, the renewal price of such domain (after 1 year of registration).

Same here, .cart is the only one that feels easy to picture.
