I wouldn't use .anime, but .cart would be a possibility for a marketplace, and .api for an API endpoint combined to a primary domain (technical though).
One aspect that would make the difference for adoption is, imo, the renewal price of such domain (after 1 year of registration).
The videos have to get HLS encoded first, it's unfortunately not possible (like on any other video hosting platform).
Regarding the missing play button in the center of the player + an option to disable the titles embedding in the player, I write it down, it will be fixed in the next rolling...
