+1
i would like to see an Anti Sopa Sticker/Text/logo beside WJunctions logo as we get to see in AS. WJunction may not entertain warez but remember the starting point, the got publicity from the Katz Admin-Pannel (Indirectly from Warez community)

Websites like Wikipedia and Google blacked out their site to raise awareness of the public. Wjunction visitors are mostly webmasters who are already aware of SOPA/PIPA. Its futile to shut it down.

Websites aren't going black just to spread awareness - the news does that. They are going black because they are against SOPA. We are aware of SOPA, but we still want to stop it. Saying it's futile to shut down is like saying Occupy Movement is useless.

Do you think that everyone who strikes (on any concern) is unaware of the situation that their striking about? Of course not, they are striking because the are against the situation.

most of you obviously don't understand how serious situation is, and how serious measures people are taking. Google is worth billions, and yet, they've taken down their page. Futile will be if bills pass the congress, taking down website for one day, won't harm WJ at all.
However, it is not necessary to take down website, just show a banner that you don't support SOPA/PIPA. Easy.

First of all, don't you think this is too late?? We've had threads discussing SOPA/PIPA and the strike for over a week (link - link). You can't expect someone to take action on the day itself, it's simply too late now.

I honesty believe the WJ shouldn't go down. WJ serves as a communication platform for webmasters etc. It is essential to have a website like this which can help webmasters during this strike, or inform people about the strike.
However, I already said earlier that I would appreciate it if WJ had put up a CENSORED banner, with a link to a thread with information about the STRIKE.

Smaller sites such as WJunction, warez sites, etc shouldn't go down because it's just not effective enough since the average citizen does not visit them, but websites like Facebook, twitter, google, reddit, wikipedia should go down because they have the useful traffic needed to fight the bill.

It's not about spreading awareness - the news does that for us.

Most effective way, to shake others, is to blackout the site, and welcome visitors with SOPA STRIKE message, so others can be aware of what is going on, and how serious things are. The goal of every strike is to get more people supporting right cause, to raise awareness of what is going on. Strike is never useless, and it's never too late, because it is happening right now. And there are still people in cb asking what SOPA is...

By WJunction shutting down it could lead more individuals to believe WJunction supports warez/warez-linking so therefore I don't think it should be shut down.

I actually think this whole protest is redonckulous.

It's not just about piracy. It's also about what the United States is trying to do to their citizens. They are trying to censor the internet and therefor denying us our basic rights. You may not give a shit, but others do.

Think of it likes this, if SOPA or PIPA passes.. What happens next? The possibilities are endless and they can fuck us harder and harder.

At least show our protest :))

You failed to understand what SOPA is about. If SOPA is enabled today, Wjunction would be down already. And probably 98% of websites every webmaster here owns.
Even if you shoot a video from a game, you are going down.
If you sing a song from some copyright work, your video goes down.
AND YOU GET SUED AND IMPRISONED BECAUSE OF THAT!!

And btw, why this: By WJunction shutting down it could lead more individuals to believe WJunction supports warez/warez-linking so therefore I don't think it should be shut down.

Seriously, how many warez websites are advertising here? How many services related to warez are advertising here? WJ maybe doesn't contain direct download links, but according to SOPA, you're going down, get sued, and imprisoned. Also, all funds are cut off too.

Knowledge and information is power. Take that away, and whole world is blinded, and absolutely controlled by one central power, American government. I don't want this to happen even in my worst nightmare.

It effects Americans the most but everyone will suffer because once it passes in the USA countries like Canada, UK, Australia, Russia, etc will all do the same.

You can take a glimpse on this video, to figure out what we are protesting today against:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/stop-sopa-widget/screenshots/

It effects the whole internet, globally. And basically, every website owner.
It's not only about internet freedom, you will get cut off of informations, news, you won't know wth is going on in the world, except through strictly controlled media, and shaped and biased informations.

Just imagine this: No more Google, no more Facebook, no more Wikipedia, no Rapidshare, Megaupload, Fileserve, no Mediafire. Probably lots of people you know from here, will be imprisoned, and criminalized..
