Which Instant Messenger is the best?

I've started to use Telegram recently and liked it very much

I use Skype and Telegram. I don't have the confidence that at least one of them is completely safe. I don't see an alternative to a secure messenger

I prefer Skype but why this is not safe? Not safe for regular activities or you meant it is not good for those who talk/chat for illegal plans?

Anyway, If there was Discord on the list, it could be the winner. Sadly, Discord was not available in 2012 I think.

Pidgin is my favourite. It also supports OTR.

I use both Facebook and Skype. But Skype has the ability to send documents, so i like it best.
