Semi-Dedicated Hosting are more easy to manage since you don't need to manage the node where your site is.

VPS are more often unmanaged and you need a bit of knowledge to manage them.

Some host give management for free with VPS, so you can take alook also on this option.

VPSs are more flexibile tho. If you want, you can go with THP (we also offer custom plans), and I'll set your VPS up for free. If you really want a semi-dedi, then go with someone else recommended in this thread, as we @ THP currently dont offer it

With a semi-dedi you don't need to manage the server as it will be managed by the host.Also you don't need to pay for the control panel license and other software which can reduce your expenditure.
