Our shared hosting is sitting at 99,69% of uptime(Pingdom) which is fairly good for shared hosting based on my 6 years experience in the offshore industry(by both customer and hoster perspective). VPS Nodes are generally above 99.9%+ so the advice is valid. If you own a mission critical project you should really consider a VPS instead of shared hosting. Shared hosting is unfortunately only what it says - hosting on a server shared with a few 100 other people. VPS is an isolated environment which is not prone to most issues you may experience on shared hosting. I hope it is a bit clear now.
EDIT: Just to make sure. This quote is very rude and we surely did NOT answer like this. If you quote what someone from KnownSRV replied PLEASE quote it word by word, otherwise you put a bad name on us which is not very nice from you. Thank you for understanding.
Thank you for using KnownSRV and I wish you best of luck with your new hosting provider.
Regardless of what your uptime stats tell you, my site had frequent downtime.
With regards to the quote, yes it is very rude. I find it extremely rude to be told if I want a decent service I should have paid more.
I have used many webhosts and have never had so much downtime, so I know what to expect from a webhosting package vs a vps.
Anyway who cares this is a pointless conversation I have now moved to a proper host that is providing me with an excellent service.
My advice to everyone stands.
