There are 3 problems with Deposit.

1.) Usa is in "other countries" group, which means they tariff is very low: 0,5-2,5$
2.) they delete inactive files after 90 days even if u have premium account.
3.) they have no list of deleted files. (u just get an email, but no details which files are deleted)

So you cant stop losing files, and even dont know what u have lost.

You're right.
However, you can put links into database or formatted HTML files and write a simple script to extract them and check them every week.
I suggest HTML files instead of plain text files because you can simply put a link pointing to the HTML page, and those downloads will be counted normally (they don't count direct download.)

Losing files isn't a big problem if you have RapidShare's premium account.
