That's a biggest lie and excuses from the host owners to shave more / all. Summer, winter what's the difference? People went on another planet where is no internet or what?

Of course there is a big difference.

During winter time most customers stay at home. Imagine, during weeks when the weather is great, the customer goes home after work but decides to stay outside or make a barbecue instead of sitting in front of the couch or computer to download stuff. It's a big difference.

Also during winter there are promotions, Black Friday and so on. Most people in Europe get bonus money from their work during winter (Christmas bonus, 13th salary) and have much more money to spend compared to summer.

And it's not just a feeling, it's measurable industry-wide:
  • Streaming services and TV networks report their lowest viewing numbers in summer every year. Netflix and co. even schedule their big releases around Q4 for exactly this reason.
  • Overall internet traffic drops in summer. ISPs and CDNs publish traffic stats every year showing the same seasonal curve: peak in winter, dip in July/August.
  • Advertising CPMs tell the same story. Ad rates are lowest in Q1/summer and highest in Q4, because advertisers know people are online and buying in winter. If summer and winter were "the same", CPMs would be flat all year.
  • In summer people go on vacation. Someone sitting on a beach in Spain or Turkey for 2-3 weeks is not downloading or buying premium accounts. Multiply that across millions of users.
  • Daylight matters too. In winter it's dark at 5 PM, cold and rainy, so people sit at their PC. In summer it's light until 10 PM.
  • E-commerce in general shows the same pattern: Q4 is by far the strongest quarter for Amazon, Google, every gaming platform (Steam sales), every digital business. That's not a coincidence and not an "excuse".

Big companies, especially IT companies, make their biggest money in Q4 every year. There's a reason quarterly reports look the way they do. Summer is always the weakest period on the internet, in every niche.

Nobody went to another planet, they just went to the lake instead of the download page.

Black Friday
Another bullshit, maybe the customers will feel it but definitely not uploaders.

Nobody went to another planet, they just went to the lake instead of the download page.

My download stats is the same when the sales were good, I don't see a huge drop in this, but no sales at all. So, the question is - Who is downloading?
