well i suggest to stay away from becoming a "warez forum" too, as what you site looks like so far is something not oh so unique, but looks like a lot of effort and thought has gone into it.
I think the forum should be more for support, information where reguular users can discuss changes, and possibly add a general community section where they can just hang out..

you have a three step system. Why not combine the home page and search page to one so people can see clearly what your site is about and simplify it to two step? Just a thought
