PS3 Date bug cripples many older systems

A nasty calendar bug has raised its ugly head yesterday / today on most older PS3s, rendering many games and DLC unusable. As a preventative measure, it may be worth not switching on your PS3 until this is resolved!

From eurogamer.net:

“Yesterday, PS3 owners worldwide suddenly found themselves locked out of the PlayStation Network, with trophy and game functionality severely compromised. No-one knows why, but it appears that a calendar bug within older PlayStation3s has wreaked havoc with the PS3's DRM and authentication systems with a far-reaching impact on the system.”

Slims arn't effected by this.

been through 5 ps3s so far...checked both mine are find and were not affected. Might get a slim seems like they are less prone to these glitches.

Sony has said if you have an original PS3 (not slim) do NOT use it until Sony has confirmed everything is fine.

Well, mine was broken 2 weeks ago, so i shipped it off to be fixed, i just everything is fine overther
