First of all recent searches are not for the functionality and secondly a DDL site can perfectly get big without doing anything more than just putting it up. Gotta love Google!

I know that but I was trying to point out that recent searches could be developed a lot lot more. Knowing what users are searching for is valuable information that could be exploited.
And you do have to put some effort in. For a start you at least have to accept the submissions.

Offer really good services and features. eg. Litewarez has a huge hype and following and it's not even officially released yet due to the unique features and webmasters area.

Litewarez has a huge wjunction hype maybe, it won't bring him any traffic though.

Best way to promote: link exchanges with other sites, friendly links, toplists, and ofcourse wait for google. Nothing else that can be done for a DDL site.

lol you ppl must be crazy if you think sites like CyberJ's or Litewarez are the only site that has a chance. Like Coon said they are just very well known due to the wjunction hype, but any DDL site would be great without the fancy mods if they are able to gain a huge amount of organic traffic over time.

Traffic is the only way to be successful in warez.

@MrHappy: The recent search is there to do its job, that is indexing thousands of pages on SEs. It doesn't need to be fancy to be successful.... but ya if you can exploit it to provide more valuable info that's good, if not there's not much difference.

It was about getting traffic, thus a popular ddl site. Not starting the best coded ddl site. Great now litewarez has 100 visitors a day from wjunction, it's awesome coded, but it won't get popular with 100 wjunction visitors. So in the end the crappy coded, copied ddl sites win cause they're the ones with all traffic (at this moment).
