Hello all,

Actually its a small story.

What happened was that I bumped a thread for a person. LT infracted me and reason given is spam. I read in rules later and it was written that bumping not allowed.

I understood my mistake.

But I bumped the thread after seeing Jason doing it in one thread. I sent many PMs to LT but got no reply.

Here are the proofs that Jason BUMPed the thread.

Reason for this thread : Want to request for my infraction to be removed as I dont find it nice seeing it in my profile :)

Unfortunately, Jason and Lifetalk are no longer staff (they re-signed), so we cannot revert their action unless you wish to PM them and explain to them why it should be reverted (then they can PM one of us to revert it). If you see a member of staff bumping a topic, you should report the post not follow what we do.

Your infraction is worth 1 point and expires on 14th December.

I know but I was not aware of the rule. Staff members are well versed with rules and I thought maybe its not against rules as a staff member did that.

And I did PMed to LT as I mentioned but no reply :(

It's in the rules that you can't bump so even if you saw someone else do it, you should have known that you couldn't. I understand that there are alot of rules and you can't remember all of them, but thats why we only infract instead of ban for small rule violations. Even if it were removed, it would still be there, but it would say 'reversed'.

An infraction is basically just a warning, and a way for staff to see what you've already been warned about - so if it happens again we know that you've already been made aware of the rule.

Infractions are really no biggie unless you keep doing the same thing. Only yourself and the mods see them. Unfortunately, seeing somebody else do something and doing the same usually comes back to bite you in the ass.

agreed but staff should get infraction just the same as members imo....but as hawk said next time report the post.

However I bet post would just be deleted and not given an infraction...if thats the case I think it should be a rule as well for staff.

As Jesse stated, only the member and the mods see infractions. So you don't know if the ex-member of staff was infracted or not. We dont typically comment on them and we definitely don't delete them.

All of you guys are trying to say that we shouldn't follow other's mistake, should read the rules before posting and that infraction is not a big issue. But IMO, praveer is trying to say that why wasn't jason given an infraction for that? Staff are well versed with the rules but still they are committing such mistakes.

We all look forward to staff. If one staff member is stating the rules and other staff member is violating then don't you think that is ironic? I think the staff should be extra careful before posting or doing anything public because they are very influential to the members.

Lastly, i know its a very small issue and i shouldn't make a big deal out of this but if stuff like this happens it creates tension between the staff and the members and makes the community a little sad.

Agreed to exactly what Nitish said, I have felt that on other forum and once in WJ too when mod locked my thread just because someone thought that I was scammer.

Sometime in here staff acts wired they are 100% of this forums, not to be mention that I have not felt that recently though.

You know what's gonna happen, praveer ?
This thread is gonna get closed. Nobody's gonna listen to you. You're just wasting time.
No matter how much you try to convince the present staff, nothing's gonna happen.

As pointed out in mindys reply to my question.....how do you know Jason wasn't infraction?

I was actually writing my message at that time and was having breakfast at the same time. When i posted, you two had already replied.
But, its obvious that he wasn't given an infraction because if he would have been given one, the whole point of this thread is almost a fail

Thread bumping is against the rules? Lol... Whether I was Staff or not, I'd bump his thread either way.

Friendly bump is a normal bump, the one when you bump a thread that was posted in the time zone that didn't have any members interested in the thread, or when the thread gets basically buried upon other threads, so it's more than obvious that no one can find the thread unless someone bumps it.

However, excessive bumping is against the rules on all Internet communities, e.g. If you're bumping a certain thread or getting a member to bump a thread that is already on the first page...

Know the difference between excessive bumping and normal bumping.

I didn't look to see if he was infracted, but if he wasn't, it was probably because we didn't know about it...maybe because no one reported it. We rely on you guys to report violations and problems because theres so few of us and so many posts.

Have you not noticed the response from staff in here? No one closed this thread, and in fact, I took the time to comment about 12 days after the last post. This thread would have died off from lack of posts if I didn't do that, so what makes you think that no one is going to listen or staff is going to close it?

I hate stupid posts like yours that are just bitching about staff and they aren't even accurate.

By the way, thread bumping is disallowed. But I modified the rules (after getting an agreement from everyone, of course) in the marketplace to allow your old thread to be duplicated if it was pushed over to the later pages and stayed that way for 30 days.

Essentially, that's a bump. You get to create a thread once every 30 days if it's pushed to the later pages and does not get noticed. Provided, of course, you inform a staff member in advance so they can lock the previous thread.

Check the 'Bumping Threads' heading in this topic:

Didnt read the replies after my last post here as the new reply came after 12 days.

I am not blaming anyone. I was just curious about this issue and hence started it.

I dont want to prove my point with this thread :)
