I don't know why I can not set/reset mysql password and can not connect to phpmyadmin
only version 2.2.4.0 worked for me and after that all version do not work ... WIN7 I have!

I also have Windows 7. I've been using it in Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 as well.

Do you have any firewall installed in your system that could be blocking MariaDB ( bin\mysql\bin\mysqld.exe ) ?

Yes. Devs did fix it in MariaDB 5.2.10. I am waiting for the release of MariaDB 5.3.3 so I can have the subquery optimizer back which makes my site faster.
