What OS should a Nokia Tablet Use?

Rumors are Nokia are working on a tablet which makes sense as they have almost got their smarphone business back in order.

Question is which OS do you think they should use or what would you use if you were Nokia?

Android - has loads of apps and a large ecosystem. Like Samsung, Nokia can make quality products.

Forked Android - Like what Amazon have done with the Kindle Fire, Nokia have loads of experience with making their own OS and apps so could be as successful if not more than Amazon.

Wndows - They are using it for their phones BUT the apps for Windows phones don't work on Windows tablets unlike those on Blackberry, Android and iOS where the same apps and code work on both tablets and phones. You also have the issue of chosing ARM or x86 based. ARM are cheaper and better battery life but only have RT while x86 are larger, more expensive and use Windows Pro so not really budget tablets.

They should use a fork of the Ubuntu phone ;)
Or Android since it already has a huge eco system.

I bet they will roll there own something written in QT that will flop as per usual with Nokia -.-
 
Ya but for those saying Android how would they be different from the competition? What would make people buy them instead of a Nexus or Samsung Tablet?

IMO, that will atleast keep them in competition. All the brohaha about Windows phones is nothing. It is all flop and Nokia is dying.

They either use what is currently in demand or create something innovative, unique, powerful & sexy and hope that it catches everybody's minds.

That's why i said they should use the Ubuntu phone first.
It's still new and no one so far has stepped up and said yes we will use it, They could bring something new to the table with it and Ubuntu managed to generate a lot of hype with it. That just shows there is interest in it all it needs is a home :).

Just using Android wont make them different or stand out they will just be re-inventing the wheel and they will become irrelevant.
 
I see them coming with Windows 8, more likely RT. It would be a win-win situation for them if they are able to introduce a budget tablet or even at considerably low prices then of Surface.
Win 8 tablet's market isn't filled like of Android (barely any choices for Win 8 atm).
 
Nokia can have these OS:
1. Custom OS
2. Linux based highly customized OS Fork, May inc. Ubuntu
3. Windows OS Option
4. FireFox OS (-_-) ??
5. Some other upcoming Open Source OS :o

6. One More One More Take Over WebOS and __________________.


I don't think Nokia will directly implement Android but only time Can tell. :|

If Nokia was going to work with Android, it would have done so with its phones.

I think they'll go with Windows 8. Nokia always has a reputation for high quality devices and consistency. I don't see them mixing their successful WP devices with Android or any other mobile OS for tablets. They made a statement with Lumia, and going to further that statement with Windows 8.

Nokia always make high quality products like, in our country still people prefer nokia old or new phone which is durable stable and uncrackable also to some extent ....

if they add android in their latest mobile this will give more attraction to there products by looking at the above plus points :) :fly:
