Moving from old to new domain question

I had a domain name and a vps. Wanted to change the domain and also the vps. So i got a new domain and a new vps. Now i want my old domain to redirect to the new domain. I did this with the htacces (found a tutorial on google). But now i want to cancel the first vps, but on that vps is the htacces file which redirects my old domain to my new. If i cancel it, it will be gone. How can i still redirect than?

but what if he wants to redirect the google indexed pages of his old site to the newer one ?

Well, not all pages are on the new site, so not that important i think..

Cant you just simple put the redirection from cPanel/WHM from your old domain to the new one?

Then he needs to host the old domain on the same server where the new domain is, and create a htaccess file to redirect all links (if the links are the same).

Rather than VPS host the redirection in a shared panel and update nameserver.
