I also own a forum too, and i don't know why you are limiting the time for users to edit their own threads/posts.
It's very important to leave users edit their threads, because sometimes you just want to update some info, it's very impractical to need to do a new post every time you want to change something.

What would stop a member editing out the last 500 messages they made leaving a mess?

Or going back and editing random posts 1yr+ ago with spam?
