Well, depends.
If you want to use it on your current PC, then go with Ubuntu, which is great OS.

But if you have an Mac, then go with Mac OS X. Using Linux or any other OS on Mac computer is insane

I'm proud Mac user for over 6 years, and nothing but good words about it
But Ubuntu is really great OS + it's free
