Hello webmasters out here,

I was asking myself, why do most of the site in the scene ask their members to [code] their links ?

To preserve anonymity ? Could be true, leave not traces from the referrer site so rapidshare can't link to where the file is displayed...

But there are big warez site out there that just don't give a damn about that, like crazy-coderz.net...

So I guess maybe it can help to keep your website a bit "underground" and your files too...

Or can some1 can tell me the "real" reason behind this ?

they originally coded them because they thought sites like ESET (NOD32), for example, were going to log referrers and take them down.

obviously this was highly unlikely and usually bullcrap but people did it anyway.
so now that people dont link directly and use RS or something instead, there is no reason, only the reason to look nice as falcon said.

its just habit, looks and an obsolete reason from the non-RS days.
