is www. effects traffic?

i want to know that, is adding www. to my site will increase traffic or no effects?

i am asking this because i saw many sites ads www. in urls, and they have good traffic.

now my site url is like

wjunction.com

and if i make it

www.wjunction.com

, then
will it effects on traffic or will it increase traffic?

i guess it doesn't matter because when you type a link in the address bar like wjunction.com or www.wjunction.com it is almost the same

no, it has no effect, www is just a folder on your server, it can be lololo.domainname.com
www is basically subdomain

WWW is a record pointer to the main domain like mail ..

A subdomain is created using virtualhost.

If you do not create the www A record it will not redirect to your website which does mean that if someone used to adding www in front of every url will get a not found and losing you some traffic..
