How WebHosting companies find out if your script is nulled or not?

I guess most simple scripts don't have any mechanism to call back to their home servers for verifying the license. And if anything like that is present, the nullers probably remove it. Probably the easiest way for script owners to keep track of genuine or nulled installations is by keeping a record of licenses sold for each domain. This is how scripts like WHMCS verify if an installation is genuine or nulled.
Yup. Most of the scripts now have their license info recorded with the script owners' database. So it is easy to track down those nulled copies.
Apart from that, sometimes when someone extracts a nulled copy of a script, they also have a file like say 'Nulled by - XYZ.txt'. So the server owners can catch the website owners running the nulled scripts through that. And of course, complaints. When we get a complain, we check that up and take the action.

Honestly the way bigger hosts do it as i used to be a hostgator level 3 linux system administrator.
Aside from the custom tools they had in place they used clamav to detect known null signatures, credits, etc..
They also look into each report sent to them.
They also use mod_security to detect known callbacks like scripts calling for google.com and expecting a non ping response :/.
Its plain and simple they find or see something suspicious they review your host files and account.

They are not bothered to look into your web hosting, and neither are they allowed to do so, until a DMCA or a special request from the forces have come.
If they check your hosting account without your permission that is a FAKE hosting company who is run shadily..
