How to use 'ren' to mass rename files?

I got many ***.avi.rar files on one fold
I wanna change all these ***.avi.rar files to ***.rar

The command "ren *.avi.rar *.rar" not working

anyone got idea?

Simplest way to do it would be 2 commands.

ren *.rar *.
ren *.avi *.rar

It worked on a test folder I put together.

What version of windows are you running? Are you sure the names are file1.avi.rar etc ,,, ?

You can also use total commander's multiple rename feature..

If you have teamviewer pm me your login password and I will look at it ...
