There are alot of torrents clients that have been released for Ubuntu. I believe there is a default torrent client installed on Ubuntu it's called Transmission BitTorrent Client.

There is also a linux version of Utorrent which can be download at http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/linux this runs as a SERVER / WEBGUI

There install instructions are very easy to follow.

I would recommend installing something else than Utorrent. Deluge is great, and react even better in the swarm... Then you have a web ui if you want to connect to your server via an http page, or you can just install deluge in your desktop and connect to your server that way... Rtorrent, running in a screen session or with rutorrent is also a popular choice... A good thing imho is to use free software: that way, you know what is running on your server... I wouldn't run non-free software, this is not secure + I don't really believe in non-free software :D

The utorrent works fine with me, it actually uses very little resources compared to the previous versions. I have it installed under CentOS though lolz.

1st add user to , do not use wine as root or admin,

then

apt-get install wine

version you will get depends on wine repos in OS, you have update wine to latest version, hit wine hq forums for details,

log in as user open terminal

wget http://download.utorrent.com/2.2/utorrent.exe

older though works better with wine so you can get anything below 2.2 of UT

then open terminal type

wine utorrent.exe
