I would be interested in a linux converting method too. I know a few programs (avidemux, ffmpeg) but i don't know how can i make such high quality on low filesize with them.

if you read a thread again you will learn how to do it it's easy follow the steps first,, and encode a movie if you win the encoding match. then do it by ur own self without seeing the pictures,

Download, encode and compare with Handbrake. Quality is quite similar but Handbrake encode the same file/video faster than MeGUI.
