Getting traffic to your website is probably the number one concern with SEO.
There are a lot of tasks that you have to do both on page as well as off page in order to get traffic.
I would not recommend doing ppc unless you are certain that your website converts any traffic you buy.
There is a good tutorial posted on this site in the tutorial section explaining how good content can drive traffic.
