How can 1 ip use so much bw but still only have similar pages hits to others??

Hi, today i notice one ip has used more bw in one day (or even half a day) then everyone else has in a week, yet it has a similar amount of hits to everyone else... how is this possible?

Should i ban the ip??

it could be like a ddos bot or a registration or spam bot some kinda bot

1. If a ddos surely the hits would be huge and the site woiuld of been down.
2. no i checked the logs and is no sign of ANYTHING strange and that skin is only 700kb anyway? (evilddl.com i am talking about).

Yeah i guess so, they don't appear to be using it now... One thing i am thinking is i added an ajax chat script last night for a bit of fun, maybe somebody left it reloading all day but surely it would not use that much still?? But could explain why it has not counted extra page hits as the actual page don't reload as such.

Dude its 211MB not 800kb and in half a day... when not even all ips added together have used as much in previous week?? Check the shots again.

dude its prob a spider of some sort, its crawling ur site, doesnt view images, only code, thats why its less then the rest.

U can ban it, OR try to figure out where its from, maybe google it?

its not a spider, if it was it would show up as one and add hits.

Its some normal isp from france.

i miss read ur question sorry bro, ur right if it was it would have more pages, the logic of ur problem is some ajax script reloading since it wouldnt be a page load.

You should be able to download the logs from your cpanel.

Search for the ip in them

Yeah i already searched the logs etc.. the only ecplasination is the ajax chat but it seems odd it would use so much bw even in that time, for example me and two others chatted in it for hours last night and we have not used that much bw.... not even slightly close.. and why would somebody leave the page on an empty chat room? There is no nerw comments since we were chatting last night.

We are talking about a ddl site and the traffic one ip used... but yeah, er blogs are lame IMO...

i know this is an old thread, but could be possible that the person was stealing content (not theme wise) but stealing the ddl contributions to use on another site.
or it is linking it somewhere else.
also could be a image you have, that they post on their website with lots of traffic.
