This is really weird. Try deleting the app+DATA,rebooting and reinstalling.
Though I doubt that it will fixed by this but this is just a basic protocol. Also, are you on a custom ROM or anything? Experienced any other issues?
Do post the same on xda.

Formatted? ^o)
Delete MAPS data. Then Uninstall MAPS.
Use FileManager, Search & Delete any folders related to Google MAPS.
Reboot your Phone & Finally install Maps Again. (y)

are you on official samsung ICS update or a custom ROM?

you cant remove google map from android.....

Duh you can remove it in a custom ROM  And as you didn't tell that you used the Official or Custom ROM. I assumed you're using a custom rom.

Just delete all the Data related to Maps (y)
You need to reset the settings to default.

You need to root your phone to remove google maps if it comes with your ROM because I am guessing you're on official rom since you updated via KIES.

First, you need to root your phone, just flash CFRoot Kernel so that you get CWM and SU. Then you could install titanium back up and uninstall google maps.

Alternatively, you could try using another rom or doing a factory reset to your phone. (:
