I had considered posting this in the polls section, but I don't want to see just the results of a poll...I want some genuine feedback from people with experience.
I'm planning to resell domains as a part of my business. Of course, the first place that I hear about and see mentioned most often is Enom. Their prices are quite reasonable when viewed in light of setting up such a service on my own, and compared to most other similar businesses. I'm not sure how much I can realistically expect to make in such a saturated market though, so I'm not sure if it is worth this additional cost.
However as I continued to search I came across resellerspanel and was quite pleased (initially) at the idea of getting these products/services for free. After spending over an hour talking with the people from resellerspanel I found that I would need to pay for my own nameservers to be branded/customized with my company's name, and that I would also need to register the domain with them or transfer it there if I already owned it at which time I'd need to pay for the registration again. I also found that unless you're using their API license/terms you are really limited on what you can and can't do with the site. HOWEVER, if you use the API you can fully design your own site and packages and etc. I'm still not too sure though.
So what I'm wondering is if any of you have experience with either of these companies, and if so what your experiences have been like. Do you think that resellerspanel is good enough for most purposes that people would want, and is it easy enough to make money with them? Or are they too common, and the scripts and templates they offer redundant and it is hard to set yourself apart from competition with them? Is Enom worth the price that they charge? How are their services and products compared to other places or methods that you may have tried before or after them?
