Blackhat Difference between Impressions and clicks

As the title says, can somebody tell me the difference.

saw this in google webmaster tools.

I know what is a click. But what is an impression ???

Impressions are how many times an image/item is viewed/seen.

when you load up facebook and you see an add on the right hand side thats ONE impression.

When you decide to click that ad thats 1 click.


Sometimes advertisers sell ad space by impressions or clicks.

You can also use it to track different items and create conversion ratios such as if 100 people saw your ad (Impressions) then how many people actually clicked on it?

impression & clicks
impression means... how many times your website shows on search engine... & after showing your website how many visitors get the visits from that keywords....

like "any keyword" get 1000 impressions & website gets 150 clicks in months... means 15% ctr click through rate...

An impression is when an ad has been shown on a page.
A click is when someone actually clicks on the ad.
