1. Sam Colt – Revolver

Colt is a household name of sorts, with every second gun you come across either being a Colt revolver or an M16. So famous are these magnificent pieces of weaponry that Afroman went on to make a song out of it!. Absurdly, the Colt revolver wasn’t made by an old hag claiming to be a specialist in weapons RnD but by Sam Colt, a young chap in his twenties who had a fascination with everything explosive. This teenager started experimenting with them at a very young age of 15, with first few failed attempts but later mastered the art of manufacturing guns and went on to sell more than 30 million guns worldwide.

2. Louiss Braille - Braille

Humans tend to be jerks and rather inconsiderate when it comes to the handicapped, for nobody thought the blind would have the urge to study or learn or read. Amidst all this though, emerged a young French boy in the 1800’s with an insatiable hunger to attain knowledge, but due to a manic accident in his early age, he was rendered blind. Not to be let down, he joined the only school in the world for blind, which was fortunately located in France and attained scholarship at a mere age of 10. Still dissatisfied, Braille devised a method that enabled the blind to read – a language we know today as Braille language. And Braille did all this at the astonishing age of 15.

3. Duro-Aina Adebola, Akindele Abiola, Faleke Oluwatoyin, Bello Eniola - Pee Powered Generator

We have always wondered what to do with our excretory products. It’s useless shit anyways, right? Wrong. For these four young ladies from Nigeria collectively invented a generator that is solely powered by urine. How crazy is that? Clubbing the powers of something that is abundantly available with recycling, they have managed to conjure a device capable of supplying electricity. And by the way it is designed; it is sturdy and can face Mother Nature with ease.

4.Aisha Mustafa - Space Propulsion System

Watching Star Trek on loop and fathoming quantum leaps and wormhole-travel is a norm for nerds. And fortunately for these chaps, a 19-year-old from Egypt, Aisha Mustafa, has brought them one step closer to this piece of science fiction. This teenager recently patented her invention that uses silicon panels to create attraction and repulsion of virtual photons that may actually help spaceships to travel with little or no fuel. This innovation will help scientists wield the power of space and help future galactic explorations more feasible and affordable.

5. Esha Khare – Supercapacitor

The most recent gem of them all, Esha Khare, a young 18-year old Indian living in the United States, invented a revolutionary device that is capable of charging a cell phone in 20 seconds. A supercapacitor in science fiction terms, this device once coupled with anything that runs on battery will be capable of reenergizing it within minutes, making it a highly useful device that can be integrated anywhere, right from a cell phone to a car to a spaceship. The supercapacitor is surprisingly compact and works on simple mechanism. Tech biggies – Google – have already gotten in touch with this child prodigy to refine her invention so it can soon be applied in our day-to-day lives.
