Add Domain Registrar/Registration section and remove filehost section

I strongly believe Wj needs to add a Domain Registrar/Registration section.
We have filehost dedicatted sections like filehost official support/discussions which doesn't even belong here in Wj:thumbdown:, but nothing for domain?
Every webmaster needs a domain but not filehost, so if we can have filehost section, than we should absolutely have a section specifically for domains.
Note, I am not talking about buying and selling of existing domains, I am talking about new domains/registrars/etc.. where domain registrars can post offers, where we can have domain specific discussions, etc..

I suggest that admins should remove the filehost section and add more webmaster related forums such as domain. Never seen a webmaster forum with filehost discussions. Webmasters dont use filehosts.

@Kw3rLn
100% agree to you.
We all know that half the filehosts on Wj are eventually going to scam its users. And there are so many coming and going every day..
WJ has from Webmasters junction turned into Filehost junction and if you get scammed, come here and moan junction

And what do you have in those threads? 100s of people asking the same question: "Did you receive payment?" "Please confirm"
Its not just the discussion or official filehost support but also the affiliates section that should be removed.
I mean this Wjunction as in W for webmasters and now warez uploaders

Thank you for your suggestion.

Webmasters that backup their files or wish to backup their sites files may use file hosts to backup their important files etc.

Back on topic in relation to your topic title, we will be organising the marketplace with sub-sections and as for discussions for domains, what type of discussions will there be? I can hardly imagine that there is any need for a dedicated discussion section for domains. For offers, we're introducing an offers section for established businesses.

Honestly, hardly any webmaster uses filehost, most of the people here are only interested in earning affiliate payouts for the illegal stuff they upload. Which is definitely doesn't concern Wj.

Coming to what you said.. what domain discussion could possibly there.. there will be, trust me.
Webmaster needs to basic things to start a website, domain and hosting. And Wj being meant mainly for webmasters.. I am really surprised why it isn't here already.

What domain discussion could be there?

-Comparing registrars and they features they offer
-Different TLDs and their specific benefits(for eg. .se TLD for warez, etc)
-Advertisements from domain registrars
-Posting experiences/reviews of different registrar, etc...
I am sure more experienced webmasters than me will be able to come up with more purposes for this section.

Such a section should have been added long ago.

And honestly Hawk, what do you think a webmaster needs more? A domain or filehost(of which half of them scam their users:facepalm:)?

In my opinion, a dedicated section for Domains will only lead to spam. And I know why you're asking for this section aswell :P
Many hosts will start spamming the section with domain offers, which will look spammy. And honestly, it'd be ignored.
There are enough trusted domain registrars atm, so i doubt anyone would prefer new webhosts, to register their domains.

Discussions related to domains can be made on the "Webmaster Discussions" section imo, as the no. of posts atm, for Domains is hardly a few. And having a section with few posts, will look bad.

@Froomple
About: "I know why you're asking for this section aswell"
I had expressed this concern long ago as well, like 2 months before I bought my warez site, so it's not because of that only.
Secondly about spamming, filehost threads are the biggest SPAMS! You see the lastest posts section next to the chatbox, 50% are from filehost, and most of the complaints of users not receiving payments, and their posts/concerns are not even remotely connected to their websites. Even if domain section as you say will be SPAM, it will still be worth it because as I mentioned earlier, domains are integral to any webmaster and hence deserve to have a dedicated section on WJ.
And the webmaster discussions section is good for general questions.. and if you check that section NOW, you will so many queries regarding domain registration and TLD suggestions for warez/adult specific sites, etc.
If anything... it atleast deserves to be on this forum a lot more than filehost section

I think before coming to any conclusion, WJ should at least give the domain section a try. If anything, it will add more to WJ and cater to a large base of webmasters.

Stop acting like kids, remove filehost section the matter of fact if you owned the site you would never do it. The End

But its also insane to have a section that is not relevant to the website's purpose.
We are shifting off the main topic guys...
The main topic is to Get a dedicated domain section this forum.

We'll look into it and let you know our decision by next week.

We have decided that currently we do not require a dedicated section for domain registrars. We may, in the future, introduce the section.

Thread re-opened to allow members to post opinions, but do note that we have no plans on introducing the section now. We may in the future.

I haven't given this a lot of thought, but when I first saw the thread I thought it would be a great idea. Here's a few reasons that came to mind:

- A good place to post special offers for new/renewed domains that we find or get in email

- Without WJ, I would never have learned about a few registrars that I now know about. I wouldn't have come across them if I hadn't read about them here, so it seems that a dedicated section would be really informative to someone like me.

- A dedicated section for registrars would help define WJ as home for webmasters because as the OP mentioned, every single webmaster needs a domain.

Thanks for reopening this section and being open to our ideas :sun: and I hope you do add this section

This is one of those things that sounds good, but when implemented doesn't turn out to be so great.

What would the topics consist of? Which domain registrar is good for this and that, some offers once in a while and if we're really lucky, maybe a domain registrar joining and providing support? And of course some TLD chatter.

It seems to me that such a section wouldn't provide much benefit. I rarely see threads specific to domain registrar/TLD's anyway, and when I do they're usually not quality discussions. What's so bad about keeping domain talk in "Webmaster Discussion" where it fits quite nicely?

+1

Plus, too many sections is no bueno.

I agree that too many sections is dull.
But what we are talking about is having an obvious section, something that anyone would expect at a webmaster site.
TBH, not every webmaster needs:
GFX
Filehosts
Payment/e-commerce info or even the new
Search engine and social network section.

I am not saying they are unimportant, but I am saying if we can have so many sections, why not a domain section given that a domain is essential for every webmaster!

Not needed. coz unlike web hosts, people rely mainly on top registrars aka godadday, name, namecheap, dynadot, register, internet.bs etc and i assume u never wanna see newbie registrars coming up each day offering domains for $ less and next day vanishing.

@JoomlaZ
becoming a registrar is damn expensive and only serious people become registrars.
And even if they vanish, you can transfer out the domain. Though the chances of going down are less.

100% agree to you.

Yashraj I don't want to be rude but if you don't like filehost just hide the section I don't see the points why everyone is keeping complaining about it.
Btw I am not using anymore any file host

This is not needed, again sometimes trying to have to much is not better. Keeping things the way they are in that forum right now helps keep things in order. You start adding to many categories, people will start getting confused.

There is no point to put a Domain Registrar area, because you can register a domain name everywhere.

A pointless idea IMO :|.
