Guyz first of all thanks for the test you realy helped me a lot... :)

@Gfxguru i opened a ticket and they told me that the speeds are good and that i keep in my mind that in that vps are 23 more people.. Previously i was @axisnext vps and am new to vps so i dont know a lot of the speed i expect... in compare with axisnext they fly here @axis i had 1mbyte /s to 5 donw and 2 up... for 1 gbit VPS

We're both on the same server, if I'm not mistaken. I'm just wondering why it seems like our 2gbit server has speeds similar to a 1gbit server...

In fact, I "raced" this 2gbit server with my 1gbit server and they have practically the same speed. These tests were not conducted on filehosts, of course, and were done at different times of the day. All the results were the same, either they are both running at the same speed, or the 1gbit is even a little faster than the 2gbit. Rarely does the 2gbit win the race...

I'm not saying that they might have sold us a 1gbit and claimed that it was a 2gbit. What I suspect is that the server might be oversold, which is the reason for its speed (or lack of speed). I'm sure that a 2gbit server should be able to do downloads in excess of 160-180Mbps, or at least 140Mbps. Fastest download speed I got from the 2gbit was 80Mbps.

My 1gbit can do that easily and highest speed I got from that was 140+Mbps...

@Phresh Thanks for the speed test :)

@Teks have u opened any ticket to the support regarding that ? I told them that the speeds are not so good and that on the main page they advertise a much better speed test and they told me that the speeds are good and that i have to keep in mind that there are 20+ more people on the server...<_<

BTW correct me if i am wrong but 20.000kbyte is not 140 mbit its 240 aprox.. in my case

Yes I did and got pretty much the same answer that you got. We have to keep in mind that there are 20+ more people on the server? They have to keep in mind that 20+ people are paying for the service, so they should improve the quality, at least.

Anyway, I'm transferring to a new server by next week...

Teh Host is my first choice, but I'm still scouting around for others. Ionvm.com also has a plan that looks good on paper, their hybrid plan. It's supposed to be a semi-dedi VPS, or one that has fewer people on it than a regular VPS.

Another idea I'm considering is getting my friends to chip in and get a low priced dedi, but I don't see that happening in the next few days... :) I'll probably do a demo on a few more hostings before deciding...

So guy's whats your opinion... Its a 2gbps port speed or not... From the tests you've made all day and i thank you a lot for that the average is 120~150Mbits does it worth or may i look for another VPS ?

 Damn!

The irony is that before 2 days i had 65 to 70 MByte/s download from this VPS...

I have no luck at all.. After axisnext i went again for a bad VPS.. :'(

I'll ticket them again for the speed issues.. If im not geting any good tomorrow am gonna ask my money back since they advertise 7 days unconditional money back... (I hope i get them,,,) Thanks a lot Teks0427 for the reply...

did you contact them by any chance again for the speed issues?

Compared to me, consider yourself lucky. After I got the VPS, I didn't get to set it up right away. I did that the next day since I didn't have my SBorg license key yet. Then I had a little trouble with setting Sborg up and had WaReZ help me, and that took another day. I was gonna test it that night (which was already the 3rd night) and then there were issues with Fileserve and Sborg so I didn't get to run it properly. On the 4th night, I ran a few downloads but everything seemed like it was going a bit too slow.

I sent a support ticket and they told me that "speeds were good" but I hit 100+% of my allocated 512mb RAM several times. I checked the stats and saw it was true. THey then advised me to add some more RAM, and so I upgraded to Plan2 (1gb RAM, 75gbHDD).

Then they changed/upgraded SolusVM to the one with the pre-installed RapidOS thingy, which I foolishly tested out, thereby wasting an Sborg install license. It turned out to be buggy, so I went back to the default CentOS 64bit (wasting another install license!!!) and another day went by.

By then, it was too late for anything. It was past 7 days already and the VPS was running slower than it did when I first got it. I told them that speeds were getting really bad, and they blamed the filehosts for that. Oh well, nothing else I could do except bite the bullet and wait for the month to end...

I guess I'll just charge it to experience...

Lol this is quiet a story !!!!

i am going to open again a ticket and tell them that other hosts are giving 50 to 60 MB/s speeds and they don't and see what they reply... If i have the same answer again i have to move again ! The problem is that i must wait for another 24 hours so my name servers to apply from my name registrant and another 48 hours after with sites again down after the move for the name servers to reapply... Damn !

Anyway Thank you all for the precious help guy's really appreciated...

Hello,

You should consider the fact that the server is shared between 22 other people and getting 500Mbps+ even in peak times is pretty good. You should also know that you have posted the test file in public and there will be multiple people hitting the same file which can also lead to slower speeds. It maybe less in peak times but I just did a test and here it is :

wget http://cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.bin
2011-08-17 20:34:09 (54.6MB/s) - '100mb.bin' saved

But as people are complaining about lower speeds on peak times(which are still over 30-40MB/s), we have decided to do a network upgrade on 26th August after which it give you better speeds in peak times as well. If you want, you can wait till 26th and see if you get an improvement in speeds and if not, we will refund you even though it is not in 7 days guarantee. Again, you should consider some points such as the 2Gbit being shared between 22 people, peak times and the test file you posted on public will be getting hit by many people, and if you can get better speeds at 1Gbit, you can choose many other providers who provide 1Gbit here as over 98% of our VPS customers on 2Gbit plans are happy. :)

Thanks!

@HostHatch

I did a lot of test with the same file from cachefly 10 minutes ago /30 minutes ago & 45 minutes ago.. The first test (45min ago) was aprox at 4~8 MB/s the others : 8 ~15 MB/s and the last is below

This are my results for the same file i know that i may hit peak times on cachefly on my vps etc but how exactly did you get 54,6 MB/s ? I just redid 3 tests from evoboxes this time on a gigabits server and at best i get arround 25~28 M/s..

wget -O /dev/null http://vn.evoboxes.net/1000mb.bin

Saving to: `/dev/null'

-If you don't mind why don't you do a test on my VPS from cachefly and see the results for yourself ?

BTW Your speedtest reminds me my first speedtest on this VPS exactly before 1day and 16 hours if im not mistaken i had exactly the same results with those u polsted...

PS: I did all those tests after i disabled the test file so no one can interupt my speed...

&

regarding this
Code:
...But as people are complaining about lower speeds on peak times(which are still over 30-40MB/s
with all my honesty i can tell u that before i ask people here to do the tests i tested many many many times and always get 20 to 27MB/s thats why i opened a ticket at first place..

as far as this
Code:
...and if you can get better speeds at 1Gbit, you can choose many other providers who provide 1Gbit here...
i never told anything personaly regarding this , i only asked here what peoples opinion is regarding my vps speed as i am not familiar with vps speeds i am newby with vps generally, and if u see 5 posts above some other member(Teks0427) posted way better speeds with a demo account from ion VM not me and i really don't understand the point of writing this, it's unprofessional in my opinion..

=========================================================

I'll accept your proposal and keep my vps until 26th august and see if its any improvement on speed... But if you don't mind please take a look on my vps it may be an issue on my node...

BTW i had 2 shutdowns today with no obvious reason and beleive me i didnt do any off these and i had to login to control panel after that to manually boot my vps since it didnt restart as it should...

===========================================================================
I am really gratefull for your refund offer and i hope this speed issues are resolved soon because as far as support and server performance concerns am a really happy customer and i hope to remain that way..

Hello,

I have said many times before that this is not our helpdesk, if you had opened a ticket with all this infromation, it would've been fixed by now as we cannot ask you your passwords, etc here in public.

And it is totally not unprofessional to say that, I am just saying if you are not happy, you can get a full refund and move on to another provider, I don't see anything wrong with that. Please open a ticket for any further issues.

Thanks!

@djscooby - mate you are idiot..no one is going to give you 2 GBPS dedicated port in your shitty 15 $ or whatever the price is. If you really need fucking best speeds then go and spent 300 $ on the dedicated server.

I dont know why people on WJ dont understand the meaning of VPS.

Its a Virtual Server with SHARED PORT i repeat : SHARED PORT...

It means that if there are 10 vps on 1 node then its 1 GBPS shared between 10 people...

The speeds you are getting on your VPS is really nice. Go and ask people from vStarVPS and other Providers. They are getting maximum 2-3 MB/s download speed.

You are getting 30 MB/s average which is hell better than other providers.

You wont find any VPS provider with the speeds you have in your mind.

Go for dedicated server if you need that much speeds...
Jeez, dont cry for speeds speeds speeds 24x7...

@ HostHatch i will open a ticket now and i hope to resolve this issue there...

@snkr007 Mate i dont know from VPS and stuff thats why i opened this speed test thread here i know from bad speeds because previously i was on axisnext and i had 700kbyte/s sometimes and the price is not 12 is 33$ its not the same i beleive and my speed on average is way lower that 30MB/s its aprox 150mbit to 200 if u combine the speedtest results and take an average...

anyway i beleive its not any use to talk about this here, all i wanted was a speed test in order to find my shoutcast max listeners bassed on the average speed i'll get from these tests,

i'll resolve the issue with hosthatch from their helpdesk.

Thanks again all the people here that helped me with this speed test , i beleive this topic can close now..
