Shared SolidNode Networks - Hosting Done /w a Passion

sorry about the lack of updates, but friend went missing in RL... Anyway, as far the data center issue, I have the new server configured, but when I rebooted the server, it never came back up and WorldStream seems to be taking their damn time answering their support.(god i hate offshore hosts).

Well, databases will be pretty up-to-date. I can't guarantee by the minute. What happens is I'll backup the sites/databases copy them over then switch DNS.

There should not be any downtime. Once the server is setup and all the accounts are up, I'll switch DNS over and let all the resellers know the new IPs. Only issue you might have is you won't have the most up-to-date database, but the difference should be little to none.

high load of vb-mysql on my server

Have you considered memcache? As for your my.cnf, try increasing the values. The following should be helpful: http://blog.highspeedweb.net/2008/07...log-for-mysql/ http://www.linuxweblog.com/tune-my.cnf Your my.cnf is too basic, you can easily get more queries and tables cached to reduce CPU.

UPDATE: Sadly, I can't do anything about the random reboots, I've tried everything. Every scan, log, and kernel setup does nothing. I just got our new server, so I'll be spending the rest of the day and even all night to get it setup and everyone moved over. Once again, I'm sorry about the...

We are changing data centers. Ecatel refuses too admit that it's hardware related. I've run the same kernels/services/configs on other servers and have never had problems. Heck, the default kernel still gives gives us the same problems. Expect a free months worth of hosting once the move over...

We believe that we have finally traced the cause and are now compiling the final kernel version which will be a whole lot more stable then the previous one. We will compensate everyone with an extra week of hosting to make up for the downtime.

After fixing the Disk Issue, there appears to be another issue that we are attempting to track down and fix. We are compiling a new kernel in case that might be the cause for these random reboots.

We had a disk failure and are working on the issue.

    Server Optimization

I've never used Apache, I'm a LiteSpeed guy, but look into using mod_proxy or a proxy system like Squid which can cache pages, thus reducing page load time and server load.

I'm not sure why it's down for you. Everything is up and running fine. Do a tracert and let me know so I know where the problem might be, if it's a routing issue. Also, send me your IP and I can check if it might have been firewalled.

Sorry guys, but the same kids who have been trying to take us down just tried to DDoS us down and it took awhile to mitigate the effects due to the massive size of the attack.

How can I build my own dedicated server?

LOL! I knew someone was going to crack that joke. :p If were using that, then I have it very well configured. But on a side note... I think it took most of the day just to compile a kernel on it. ;(

    Webmaster Websites

Well, in my case the account got jacked since I don't use a different password for every forum I sign up on(because I never considered forum accounts a high profile for extra security). Obviously, I was wrong and won't be taking that chance again, and will from this point on will use randomly...
