Request from Admins

Hey all,
I would like to request a PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP ( PAID ) feature from the Admins,

Because most of the trusted forums for example WHT has it.

P.S. I don't see that happening any time soon, those who want to scam they will invest 10-15$ more without any questions. So the "Premium" rank won't give you any respect, neither will users trust you more.

No need for such a thing in WJ according to me, if you wanna make it like WHT then why come at WJ ? Isnt it because WJ is different ?

It depends on how it's implemented. Many forums have some sort of "VIP" or "Premium" service and it works well for the most part. From day one it has to be made clear to users that VIP/Premium members are just as liable to scam as anybody else.

A few perks could be things like bigger avatars, bigger signature space, ability to lock own threads, more PM space and a sexy username color, those sorts of things.

PayPal would make the whole thing a pain in the ass though.

PayPal would not do anything because WJ itself isn't profiting from
illegal material/warez linking so it should be alright for donations
to get VIP or Premium Member.

Have to agree with Hx. I do believe it would divide the community to an extent. Every rank on WJ is currently earned. A paid rank would go against this. From what I find on other sites experienced members and staff feel encouraged to help premium/vip members more as they donated to help the community. I don't want to feel pressured or encouraged into helping one member over another. Everyone is equal in that regard.

Also this was discussed about two years ago and the admins said it would never happen. I know their is new admins now but I'd have to agree with the old ones on this. eLight said the financial status of WJunction was fine when it was taken over and no further adverts or money making sources would be added. Considering the adverts haven't being reduced as promised and the financial status hasn't changed I don't think it's needed from an income point of view.

A paid rank is something I'd personally be strongly against.

Every Webmaster board has the paid rank, people create Websites to get the cash. Those who say the opposite are just lying. We all expect the cash...

It would do absolutely nothing when it comes to the community part, it would be pretty much similar to the verification process if we make it available only to Web Hosters and those who are active in the Marketplace area, e.g. If you want to sell more than 2 items, you have to become a premium member.

It basically helps to the Staff members, if a person decides to scam we'd have his info without doing a Google lookup on him, it's not that valuable, but hey at least it's something.

Dont know what site youre visiting? Banner between posts in every thread, annoying flash banner near CB, header ads (then added back after WTF and poll) multiple stickies, all removed. More to come as renewals arrive in due time and some to be moved/replaced as has already started occurring (moving FH ads) which should come further into effect in approximately one week from now. We are slowly moving towards the host buttons only, ads IN the FH section only and our header ones. Not bad considering where we were.

In regards to the idea I don't think it's currently fitting for WJ. But that's not to say it can't work. It's open to much abuse and while we could offer some nifty profile features among other things I think the community is fine as is, for now at least. So we won't rule it out for later down the track entirely. Definitely open to ideas. Jason makes a good point too!

no i think the idea of selling people positions is the 'stupid idea' .. im sure withe the amount earned from the current ads is enough to cover server costs. I dont see a need to let people buy positions to fool noobs into believing they are trusted members just because they have a special rank
