Performance issues with RDP RAR/unRAR

Hello, everyone -

I am having some troubles with my RDP. Last three days I've not been able to use as often as I did before.

All of a sudden RAR/unRAR of files are taking too long. I prefer using 7Zip because its faster than WinRAR but both of these are taking too long time.

Now I'm noticing problems with other applications. I used portable versions of FireFox, Crytoload and after I execute them to open I have to wait about 5 or so minutes for them to respond.

The provider switch me to a brand new server today but even with this new sever the problems persist.

Could both their drives be having issues?

Could it be because the way they partition ever user to their own drive?

I noticed with another provider. They had two partitions:

C:Windows/Programs, etc...
D:Users - Every user has allocated hard drive space.

I don't want to keep bugging them, but I can't get much use out of their service.

Any advice?

Best regards,

That depends on a lot of things:

-What kind of HDD you on.
-How many users on the same HDD.
-What kind of compression method you're using. (store, normal or best...etc)
-Some one might be abusing the server by leaving a bunch of torrents seeding/ rebuilding a lot of files with IDM, raring a lot of files at once...etc.
-HDD needs a fragmentary.
-The RDA company overselling.

And the list goes on, the thing is you can't do anything about it except informing your provider with the issue. Include a screenshot of the online users and the process, that'll help them sort things out.

Sums it up in one. Best bet for rarring and unrarring i would say would be a dedicted server. Have your own ram and hard drive to yourself. You can get cheap ones these days such as kimsufi / OVH. Maybe more expensive than a VPS but better in the long run.

Hello,

of course I use the store option. As I stated this is a brand new server. Only three users admin, myself and someone else.

I don't know what kind of HHD they have.

As far a torrents and seeding. I don't think this is a problem yet since not too many of us and I haven't downloaded a torrent.

Overselling? Unlikely yet. :)

So if this is a brand new server and such problems exist, I guess my question is how could this happen still?

Old or same problematic drives?

It could be a faulty HDD, but you would be surprised by how much 3 users or even 1 user can rape a dedicated server. It all depends on what you're doing, if those 3 users were raring a 7Gb game/bluray on the same HDD, it will crawl to the point of freezing, but again it depends on the HDD ofc.

Your best bet is contacting the provider, I can't tell you how many times I spotted abusers uploading hundreds of files at once, leaving bunch of games unraring/raring at once and just go for a walk and leave all other users pissed.

Hello,

thank you for that information. I'm just don't want to come off as a bitching customer for only $21.00

I've complain already and since this is a newer sever they probably think I'm doing something wrong.

I don't abuse anything. Run a max of 3 uploads and usually download one at a time since I do things as a free users.

Torrents do rape a HD and I use a separate VPS for that.

Thank you for all your help.

Hello,

actually RAR speeds have resume for the moment. It must be their hard drives or something with their servers.

I think they need to contact the datacenter.

Hello,

seems it was a user failure created by myself.

I created the users folders, like desktop, documents, etc to my dedicated drive and under the default location of C:/User changed the default locations to my dedicated drive.

This cause my errors it appears.

So sorry for all the trouble.
