Yes, I hate to put people on blast here, but the truth is that one of the largest reasons that so many clients are unhappy with their SEO is because they are unwilling to spend the money. I understand that our industry has a relatively new entry barrier, but that does not mean that you should expect us to do this for next to nothing.

Having SEO (or any other digital strategy and execution for that matter) is going to cost money – it is not free and it is not cheap. You will need a proper budget if you want to get real, sustainable results.

I feel that for us SEO people, we have to educate the client on the budget. I can understand why some people would rather take the $200 and run with it, but that just diminishes the overall SEO value. I think that if we are honest about it, we should be walking away from those clients who dangle a few hundred dollars in front of our nose and expect us to jump for it.

Anyone else share this same frustration?
