Most of people use CentOS 5. Needs low resources, and there are many tutorials on the net about how to manage it. Ubuntu can be another good choice for a newbie, because exists millions of tutorials on the net.

Yes you can run rapidleech on same server, but depending on the rapidleech usage perhaps your wordpress site is little slow while you are using rapidleech. But if you use rapidleech with a good usage (not 24/7) not should be a problem
