Idea for an OpenSource project

Hello,

Our team is looking for an idea for an open source project. The idea should be innovative and need not be unique. We will be using PHP/MySQL, JQuery/Angular JS to develop the same. We currently have the following ideas:

1. Micro (or not micro) Open Source Forum (similar to mybb or vbulletin but open source and with innovative UI )
2. A simple social networking script (though not that interested in this)
3. A open source highly customizable marketplace for all things digital.

In case you have any innovative ideas, kindly share with us. Contributors will get exclusive access to alpha testing and script before public release, and will be featured in hall of fame.

Well first of all I will like to say that the idea is great (y)

I would like to advice for the 3rd point listed by you

3. A open source highly customizable marketplace for all things digital.

Actually something similar like a AIO or highly customizable Billing panel and listing software/ script.

Also a control panel for webhosting which can facilitate all the basic requirements with a low level resource need and support to multible web server platform i.e. other than Apache

Great initiative. I'd love to see someone create an awesome alternative to cPanel or WHMCS. There's not a single software that's opensource or free, having all the features of cPanel or WHMCS.
A Superior and safe billing system is what the hosting industry needs right now, especially after the recent exploits.
And on the other hand, managing a VPS without cPanel is not that easy for people. The alternatives are very buggy and not of great choice for newbies. It'd require continuous maintenance from your side though.

Keeping these things open source is fairly difficult and too difficult if your company hasnt released any sources that are Open Sourced till now,
Also, Instead of leeching ideas why not post the base code on github and ask people to prepare modules and fork projects ?

So for that base code only we are looking for ideas as to what we should be making, the more exhaustive details would be handled on github only.
And it isn't leeching ideas, if the person is willing providing the same.[/FONT]
