We are looking for a highly skilled Network/Streaming Engineer with a strong background in reverse engineering, binary data manipulation, and custom video delivery architectures.
We have successfully developed a method to encapsulate live stream data (video segments) inside image payloads (e.g., PNGs) and upload them to a third-party, highly scalable Edge CDN. We now need a developer to build out the rest of the infrastructure to handle this pipeline automatically and flawlessly in real-time.
Your Role & Architecture Responsibilities:
- Ingest & Obfuscation Pipeline: Take an incoming live RTMP stream, transcode it, chunk it, and dynamically wrap the media segments into image file formats on the fly.
- Custom Client-Side Player (MSE): The standard HLS player will not work for this. You must build a custom web player using JavaScript and Media Source Extensions (MSE). The player needs to fetch these "image" payloads using HTTP 206 Partial Content (Range Requests), extract the hidden video buffer/binary data, and feed it to the video element for seamless playback.
- Latency Optimization: Optimize the chunk size and HTTP Range requests to ensure the live stream has the lowest possible latency without buffering.
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Binary Data Manipulation: Deep understanding of file headers, payload encapsulation, and manipulating bitstreams.
- Custom Video Streaming: Advanced knowledge of FFmpeg, HLS/DASH protocols, and chunking mechanisms.
- Client-Side Decoding: Expert in building custom video players using MSE, Web Workers, or WebAssembly (WASM) for on-the-fly data unwrapping.
- Network Protocols: Mastery of HTTP caching, Edge network routing, HTTP Range Requests, and analyzing network traffic (Wireshark/Charles).
- Backend Languages: Go, Rust, or C++ (preferred for fast binary processing and handling high I/O throughput), or advanced Node.js.
