While we don't have SSD, all of our Nodes have minimum 4x SAS 15k RPM drives in h/w RAID10(with BBU) which is extremely fast and reliable. Our clients don't have issues with running I/O intensive stuff on this setup. Thanks for the kind words everyone, much appreciated :)

All of our Nodes run at least 4x SAS 15k RPM drives in h/w RAID10(with BBU) which is good for both write and reads. SSD does outperform SAS only on reads. Our drives are extremely reliable and fast so I/O is never a problem.

There is a difference between dedicated resources and oversold resources. One could allocate all the RAM from Node(let's say 32GB) and charge $5/month for this but what's the point? You get 100s VPS sharing this per same Node / resources, you basically get shared hosting with root access.

Nothing you can do if upstream nullroutes your IP. Find a provider who will not nullroute, then you may be able to do something.
