True, someone can get access to this file and download your db.
But you can edit the api for it not to output the download link in the text file. It's quite secure now, what do you think?

But by referring to the RS api, the script will upload the database to Rapidshare and output the download link in a text file

What the need of creating another script (up.sh) and putting all the command into it to execute ?
I think you have missed the part for deleting the files
rm <files>Nice start :)

you may also add the following...
suppose in directory "test" there are 20 sub-directories.
When you put ./script.sh test 25
it will compress the first directory (split it into 25mb), upload it and delete it then compress the other and so on.
