    Lots of traffic... not so many registrations...

    First check your bounce rate. If the bounce rate is high, then you know why they are not registering. Second, you have too many empty forums. This could be one of the reasons why people not registering.. . it looks too inactive. I would only show empty forums to registered members and change it...

    It really depends on your type of traffic and the kind of people you attract to your site. You're going to need to test out each one on your own to know which is the best for your site.. . but considering your site is a DDL, I would "assume" CPM would be best for you.
