One good domain or many project domains?

Webmasters often collect domains for future projects.

Some get used, but many just keep renewing every year.

Would you rather keep one strong domain for a serious project, or many average domains for different ideas?

What do you mean by different ideas? When they buy an average $10 domain name, and try to sell it for $10000? Also any good domain name is called "Premium" now a days, prices are way up on them.

I meant domains kept for different future projects or niche ideas, not random $10 names that people dream of selling for $10k. And yes, "premium" is used too loosely now. A good domain should have a real use case or buyer pool. Otherwise it is just another renewal.
